"We had estimated six months. Fourteen have passed."

I've heard it so many times that at some point I stopped being surprised. What still surprises me is the explanation that almost always accompanies that sentence: "The supplier did not meet the deadline." Or: "The software had issues." Rarely does anyone look the other way.

A manufacturing company invests 80,000 euros in a new CRM. Six months after the go-live, the sales manager estimates that 70% of the sales team continues to manage contacts on Excel spreadsheets and paper diaries. The software works. The problem lies elsewhere.

This story is not an exception. It is the norm.

A consulting firm delivers an eighty-slide presentation. Dense, polished, based on real data. The CEO reads it, finds it convincing, and shares it with management. Then comes the inevitable question: "And now, who is going to implement it?"

That question separates two worlds.

An entrepreneur showed me their new management software with the same pride as someone showing off their child. Months of selection, weeks of implementation, a significant investment. Then I asked their administrative manager how it was going. He replied that he was still using Excel "just to be safe."

I've seen that scene dozens of times. And every time it tells the same story: the problem is not the technology.
